I have a new poem for the Auroville Community, in the context of this 58-year old "laboratory of evolution" that Sri Aurobindo and the Mother have envisioned and founded. This City of Dawn as a dynamic living continuation of the Supramental rEvolution they kickstarted as the Dual Kalki Avatar towards the Satya Yuga, the Golden Age, the Life Divine.

ReplyDeleteCette intuition repose sur l’idée que la Réalité ultime n’est pas séparée du monde, mais qu’elle se manifeste dans et comme la vie elle-même.
Selon cette perspective, la multiplicité des formes, des cultures, des chemins et des expériences n’est pas un obstacle à l’unité, mais l’une de ses expressions possibles. La diversité n’est pas nécessairement un état à dépasser, mais peut être comprise comme une manière pour l’Un de se donner à voir et à vivre.
Dans cette lumière, la transformation intérieure n’implique pas forcément un passage vers un état futur déterminé, ni l’idée que l’humain actuel serait fondamentalement incomplet ou provisoire. Elle peut aussi être comprise comme une clarification progressive de la conscience, une reconnaissance de plus en plus lucide de ce qui est déjà à l’œuvre, ici et maintenant, dans chaque instant de la vie.
La notion de devenir prend alors un sens particulier : non pas celui d’un accomplissement de l’Être dans le temps, mais celui d’un déploiement libre de ses possibilités, sans que l’Absolu ait besoin d’atteindre ce qu’il n’est pas encore. Le mouvement, l’évolution, la création restent pleinement valides — mais ils ne portent pas la charge de “réaliser” l’infini.
Dans cette lecture, la liberté de la conscience n’est pas orientée vers un terme ultime à produire, mais s’exprime comme une capacité toujours actuelle à reconnaître l’unité au cœur même de la multiplicité.
L’unité humaine n’est alors ni un objectif lointain, ni un idéal à atteindre, mais une réalité à expérimenter et à incarner dans le présent, à travers la relation, le travail, la créativité et la vie collective.
Ainsi comprise, Auroville demeure un lieu d’expérimentation vivante, non comme avant-garde d’un futur garanti, mais comme espace ouvert où la conscience peut se reconnaître dans toutes ses formes, sans hiérarchie cachée, sans pression téléologique, et sans que l’histoire ait à porter le poids de l’Absolu.

Dire que « le but secret de l’évolution n’est plus secret » donne une orientation forte et peut susciter un élan réel. Cela transforme l’histoire en trajectoire lisible et l’engagement en participation consciente à un dessein. Mais cette formulation suppose déjà que l’évolution possède un but déterminé et connaissable, et que la valeur de l’action dépend de l’adhésion à ce but.
DeleteOr c’est précisément là que naît la difficulté philosophique.
Si le sens ultime est posé comme futur et défini à l’avance, deux effets paradoxaux apparaissent :
soit l’on adhère, et l’action risque de devenir exécution d’un programme cosmique plutôt qu’expression libre d’une intelligence présente ;
soit l’on n’adhère pas, et l’on se place implicitement « en retard » ou « en dehors » d’un mouvement tenu pour supérieur.
Dans les deux cas, la liberté change de nature : elle ne porte plus sur l’acte lui-même, mais sur l’acceptation d’un scénario historique déjà écrit.
Une autre lecture est possible :
ce qui se manifeste n’a pas nécessairement besoin d’être pensé comme un but final pour être vécu intensément. L’évolution peut être comprise non comme marche vers une forme ultime prédéfinie, mais comme déploiement continu de potentialités déjà présentes dans le réel. Dans cette perspective, participer ne signifie pas consentir à une destination cosmique, mais être lucide et responsable dans ce qui se fait ici.
Le « supramental » cesse alors d’être un événement attendu et devient un nom possible pour une qualité de conscience — non pas quelque chose qui doit advenir pour valider le présent, mais quelque chose qui peut s’exprimer à chaque instant sans garantir ni promettre l’histoire.
Ainsi, l’enjeu n’est plus de savoir si l’on consent ou non à un futur annoncé, mais de voir que la valeur de l’action ne dépend pas d’un horizon prédéfini.
Ce qui importe n’est pas d’entrer dans un plan de l’évolution, mais de ne pas remettre au futur ce qui peut être reconnu et vécu maintenant.
As a philosophy of history, the Aurobindian position has a real strength: it injects meaning, momentum, and a metaphysical justification into human engagement.

In other words, it prevents non-duality from being lived as closure.
The world is no longer a mere theatre of appearances but a field of actualization.
Yet by projecting fulfillment into the future, it creates a paradoxical dependency: fullness ceases to be fully actual; the Absolute appears engaged in a becoming; present recognition becomes provisional or incomplete; action can be postponed under the cover of an “ongoing process.”
The future, meant to stimulate, then becomes a possible screen.
What was supposed to prevent inertia can provide a subtle alibi: “not yet,” “the species is not ready,” “evolution follows its rhythm.”
The tension does not arise from a psychological disagreement but from a change in the status of time: time shifts from a mode of appearance to a condition of completion.
In practice, two opposite drifts appear depending on which pole is emphasized:
Emphasis on recognition alone → risk of indifference or disengagement.
Emphasis on future fulfillment → risk of messianism, implicit hierarchies of consciousness, or perpetual postponement of the real.
The difficulty, therefore, is not to choose between present and future, but not to subordinate one to the other.
Action can be intense without being teleological.
Commitment can be total without leaning on a cosmic promise.
What changes then is not the intensity but the foundation: the act no longer serves to complete the Absolute; it expresses an already entire fullness; transformation is no longer guaranteed by history but assumed here.
History ceases to be the place where truth must arrive; it becomes the place where it unfolds.
In this sense, a motivating philosophy of history has undeniable existential usefulness, but its conceptual cost is to make perfection depend on a horizon.
Conversely, a recognition without a projected future does not deny action: it removes the promise of salvation and leaves it responsible and without guarantee — the true adventure.

L’Unité n’est pas le résultat des opposés ;
Deleteelle est le fond dans lequel ils apparaissent et disparaissent.
Les contrastes peuvent intensifier la conscience, mais ils ne fondent pas la réalité elle-même.
La réalité n’est pas que les opposés se combattent pour produire l’unité mais que l’unité est déjà là, et que les opposés n’en soient que des variations perceptives.
On peut reconnaître la valeur existentielle des contrastes — ils éveillent, secouent, révèlent — sans en faire une condition du réel.
La paix peut être perçue après le tumulte, mais elle n’en dépend pas, elle n’est pas produite par le tumulte, elle peut être reconnue au cœur même du tumulte — ou sans lui.
L’amour peut apparaître après la blessure, mais il ne naît pas d’elle.
L'Unité est le fond commun dans/par lequel ces opposés apparaissent. L’union n’est pas produite par la collision : elle est ce qui rend possible l'apparition.

but the recognition that oppositions belong to the same field of reality.
Opposites are not merely poetic devices; they are operative dynamics of the living world.
ReplyDeleteYet recognizing polarity as a condition of manifestation does not mean that Reality itself can be divided or is unachieved.
Polarity describes how life functions, not what Being is in itself, nor a temporary state of manifestation meant to evolve.
Two poles generate movement, but the field in which they appear is single.
A magnet has two ends, yet it is one magnet.
The current needs positive and negative, yet electricity is not “two electricities.”
The dance of opposites belongs to expression, not to essence.
Creation unfolds through dual movement;
recognition occurs through contrast;
but unity is not the result of their collision.
It is the ground that allows polarity to operate at all.
So the play of opposites can be seen as a generative engine of life —
a magnetic architecture of becoming —
while unity remains the silent continuity that neither pole can exhaust.
Opposition animates the surface;
coherence sustains the whole.

Lorsque le centre de gravité se situe dans le sentir et le consentir, la structure téléologique se dégonfle d’elle-même. Elle peut subsister comme récit motivant en arrière-plan, mais elle ne commande plus l’expérience. La lucidité se vit comme une joie tranquille qui accompagne l’action.
La polarité anime l’expression de la vie comme un magnétisme créateur.
Deux pôles génèrent mouvement, attraction, circulation et intensité.
Le champ qui les porte demeure unifié et cohérent.
L’action naît de la clarté et déploie l’intelligence du cœur dans le monde.
La connaissance devient perception directe, l’action devient expression consciente, la dévotion devient ouverture rayonnante, la vie quotidienne devient terrain d’intégration lumineuse.

Une action peut être intense sans être téléologique.

La ligne évolutive est intéressante comme mythopoïèse mobilisatrice, mais comme ontologie explicative, elle introduit plus de complications que de solutions.
La reconnaissance non-duelle, intégre l’action, l’histoire et la matière sans dépendre d’eux.
En rendement total — clarté, liberté, efficacité ontologique —
c’est la plus stable et la moins coûteuse.
LE POINT D’ARTICULATION : ACTION ET ABANDON

Une non-dualité comprise comme accomplissement peut inspirer une quiétude vague ; une vision orientée vers l’avenir peut stimuler l’engagement.
Entre ces pôles, le surrender apporte une clé d’intégration.
Surrender ne signifie ni soumission ni effacement de soi.
Il désigne l’ouverture consciente à une dimension plus vaste que l’ego, un consentement intérieur par lequel l’être s’aligne sur la présence qu’il pressent comme plus vraie que ses automatismes mentaux ou ses peurs.
Il s’agit d’un geste de lucidité plutôt que d’obéissance, d’une disponibilité active plutôt que d’une passivité.
Pourquoi cet abandon intérieur ?
Parce que le mental, livré à lui-même, tend à refermer l’expérience sur ses certitudes.
Le surrender reconnaît la limite de cette maîtrise et permet à une intelligence plus profonde d’opérer.
Il ne se dirige ni vers une institution ni vers une figure extérieure, mais vers la présence consciente ressentie au cœur de l’être.
Sri Aurobindo décrit ce mouvement comme progressif :
— mental, lorsque les idées cessent de se prendre pour la vérité entière ;
— vital, lorsque désirs et peurs sont acceptés et ainsi se clarifient ;
— physique, lorsque le corps intègre et accompagne le rythme de la transformation ;
— psychique, lorsque l’offrande devient joyeuse et unifiante.
Le signe en est une paix stable, non comme retrait du monde, mais comme base d’action lucide.
Ce processus ne se décrète pas : il se renouvelle, se précise, s’affine. Persévérance patience, aspiration
À l’échelle collective, le surrender ne prend pas la forme d’une abdication commune, mais celle d’un espace partagé de non-contrôle et d’écoute.
Un groupe peut reconnaître qu’il avance sans modèle figé, ouvert à ce qui cherche à naître.
Ainsi, la transformation conserve son intensité tout en s'épanouissant dans la présence et au présent.
